Just over 50 percent of white collar Caterpillar employees offered early retirement packages took it, reports PJ Star. Another 1,000 Caterpillar salaried and management jobs will be eliminated by the end of the year. Caterpilllar CFO Brad Halverson told PJ Star early retirement plans were tailored to each individual, based on salary and years of service.
