John Deere 5G Series Tractors Receive Prestigious AE50 Award for 2016
The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) awarded the John Deere 5G Series Tractors with an AE50 Award for 2016. The AE50 award highlights the year’s most innovative designs in product engineering, as chosen by a panel of international engineering experts.
Introduced to the specialty crop markets in December 2015, the narrow and highly maneuverable John Deere 5G Series Tractors combine improved power, performance and productivity in often confined orchard and vine crop environments. Available in five models with 75, 90 or 100 engine horsepower and narrow 39- or 49.5-inch working widths, the 5G Tractors feature a tight turning radius, Economy PTO for improved engine efficiency and rear lift-hitch capacity up to 4,400 lbs.
“The 5G Series Tractors build on the success of our previous specialty crop utility tractors to provide the compact power solutions that grape, almond and other specialty crop producers demand,” says Chris Lammie, product marketing manager for John Deere. “With optional Intelligent Power Management to deliver additional horsepower when needed, flexible transmission choices, and many other customer-focused features, the 5G is one of the first Final Tier 4 utility tractor lines available in the specialty crop segment.”
The AE50 awards program is sponsored by the ASABE’s magazine, Resource: Engineering & Technology for a Sustainable World, to emphasize the role of new products and systems in bringing advanced technology to the marketplace. These engineering developments help farmers, food processors and equipment manufacturers cut costs, enhance quality and increase profits. This year’s winners will be featured in the January/February 2017 issue of the publication. Additional details about the AE50 Awards can be found at www.asabe.org
